This heart monitoring system was developed by NASA and designed to be worn by astronauts in the US manned space flight program. The silver electrode tablet, which played a critical role in the system, required a matrix that functioned as the sensor. With our capabilities and processes, we were able to produce the 94% silver electrode tablet with exceptional accuracy and efficiency.
At Tableting Pro, we take pride in our state-of-the-art facilities and in-house applications, which are ideal for manufacturing intricate components such as the silver electrode tablet. For this project, we utilized our formula blending, ball milling, and tableting capabilities, as well as our Colton 341 tablet press equipped with 0.615: 440SS tooling. We also used our Waring blender, bottle tumbler blenders, and ball mill to ensure the highest quality and consistency of the silver electrode tablet. The tablet was composed of silver powder and silver chloride and had a diameter of .615" and a height of .020". It weighed .8 grams and was required to meet a height tolerance of -0.0"/+.005".
We ensured that all customer specifications were met, including the NASA Electrode System Standards and Engelhard P-400 99.99% pure silver standard. The integrity of the specification was verified by the press operator, who checked the electrode height, weight, and absence of lamination every minute at start-up and every 5 minutes thereafter. We manufactured 12,000 units per order with a remarkable turnaround time of just 2 days.
